The Beauty of Boundaries | Online Workshop

Boundaries are our energetic containers - how we manage our life force both internally and externally. How we relate to setting and maintaining boundaries is hugely important - boundaries can have a positive or negative impact depending upon how we use their inherent power. Mindfully managed, boundaries support and protect us, and feed our spirits; when boundaries are applied incorrectly, we become depleted and energetically compromised. When we become skillful in setting appropriate and healthy boundaries, we actually create more freedom and joy in our lives!

Join Abby in collaboration with Bluebird Sky Yoga where you'll learn actionable tools to create a positive and elevating relationship with setting boundaries. We'll begin the workshop by defining different kinds of boundaries and how they impact our lives. We'll discuss the potential for stigma around boundary setting, and how setting boundaries actually makes us more compassionate towards ourselves and others. Then we'll explore a yoga practice that will be intelligently designed to help you to find and feel your most aligned self. You'll be given specific tools to learn how you can create a safe container for your own individual life force. We'll end the workshop with journaling, and a discussion of how you can use these embodied and actionable tools not only on your yoga mat, but also in your day-to-day life.

When we become more skillful in setting appropriate and healthy boundaries, we actually create more freedom!

Join Abby in this workshop where you'll learn actionable tools to create a positive and elevating relationship with setting boundaries. We'll begin the workshop by defining different kinds of boundaries and how they impact our lives. We'll discuss the potential for stigma around boundary setting, and how setting boundaries actually makes us more compassionate towards ourselves and others. Then, we'll move into ceremony to invite in the support and wisdom of our guides and ancestors as we do this important work. The following yoga practice will be intelligently designed to help you to find and feel your most aligned self. Taking Ownership of Your Practice - POSTPONED

This workshop is for any yoga practitioner of any level of experience who is interested in empowering their individual practice! The workshop will begin with an interactive discussion of basic functional anatomy - no discussion of muscle names or fancy languaging - but simple guidelines to understand the body's natural movement patterns. We'll discuss how muscles, bones, and fascia support each other, and how to apply this information to our own individual bodies. 

Then, we'll move through a yoga practice where we'll put skill into action, and apply that knowledge to our unique bodies and yoga practices. Abby will guide students to move with inquiry and playfulness in their practice, so that each person makes aligned, mindful choices. Abby will weave together knowledge from over a decade of working with bodies as a massage therapist and yoga teacher to offer information that's practical, accessible, and applicable. Each person will leave the workshop having learned easy-to-understand functional anatomy, with the tools and skillfulness to tailor your practice to your individual needs in the future.

Opening Up

Join Abby for an extra long, juicy practice focused on creating deep opening in the body. The workshop will begin with an active, or yang, portion where we'll warm the body and move the joints in a safe and mindful way. By moving the bones, fascia, and muscles through their active range-of-motion, the body will be properly warmed and prepared to move into the yin, or cooling section of the practice. We'll dive into a long, sweet, stretchy portion of the practice focus on creating release and opening in the hips, shoulders, and spine.

Unwinding Tension: Deep Relaxation & Sound Healing

Join Abby for a night of deep relaxation to help unwind from the bustle and stress of the holiday season. The evening will begin with guided pranayama in a restorative yoga shape that's fully supported with props. Students will be guided to use the breath to connect to each chakra, and to release deep core tension from the physical and energy bodies. This special breath practice is intelligently designed to work on the level of the musculo-skeletal system, the nervous system, and the energy body through the chakras. Students will experience the sweetness of unraveling holding patterns in the body and how good it feels to down-regulate the Stress Response, or Sympathetic Nervous System.

After we've relaxed the chakras and softened the body, Abby will guide students through a frame drum sound healing, where students can trip out the meditative state where healing happens. You'll float away from this workshop feeling deeply relaxed and with new tools to bring that chill vibe with you into your life.

Sacred Skills Academy 1 Day Immersion

This special one-day workshop with Abby is an opportunity for yoga students, bodyworkers, and yoga teachers of all levels to spend a whole day diving deeply into a curated experience of subtle physical and energetic work. The day will begin with ceremony, where we'll invite in mother earth, and the ancestors and guides of our community circle to support and protect each of as we move through this healing work. The morning yoga practice will weave breath, movement, and guided focusing to increase our ability to feel, and bring heightened awareness of the habitual holding patterns in our bodies and energy fields.

The afternoon session will call on the connection that we've built through ceremony and our yoga practice, and will take that skillfulness into group and partner work. We'll move from gross to subtle, starting by working with the musculo-skeletal body through shiatsu and tui-na inspired touch with partners. Then, we'll dive into what's below the surface of the physical body by exploring how to feel breath and heartbeat, how to feel the rhythm and flow of the cerebrospinal fluid, and how to feel energy moving.

The work done in this Immersion (both individually and with others) is a mirror for how you show up for yourself, in relationships, in your work, and your yoga practice. You'll walk away from a day of being deeply dropped in and connected to community with tools that you can take into all parts of your life!
