The vinyasa flow - chaturanga, upward dog, downward dog - is a common and repeated part of any vinyasa flow class. Despite being present in many yoga practices, the vinyasa flow is actually quite complex and challenging - and when done incorrectly can cause pain or injury to the wrists, shoulders, or lower back.
Join me for this workshop, in collaboration with Washington Yoga Center, centered around how to move through the vinyasa flow with more skill and ease. You'll learn how to smooth out and optimize your movements to eliminate unnecessary energy dumps, and how to flow safely to protect your joints. Expect to explore basic movements that will build strength in the muscles of the shoulders, arms, and core that are needed to flow intelligently and safely through vinyasa flow. You'll learn how to enter into Chaturanga Dandasana mindfully, and how to flow from Chatturanga into Upward Facing Dog.
Students will walk away from this workshop feeling more powerful and confident in their Surya Namaskar (our beloved Sun Salutations), and with useful takeaways that you can do on or off your mat to increase the health, strength, and longevity of your wrist and shoulder joints.
