Then, we'll move through a yoga practice where we'll put skill into action, and apply that knowledge to our unique bodies and yoga practices. Abby will guide students to work inquiry and playfulness into their practice, so that each person makes aligned, mindful choices. She’ll weave together knowledge from over a decade of working with bodies as a massage therapist and yoga teacher to offer information that's practical, accessible, and applicable. Join Abby for an extra long, juicy practice focused on creating deep opening in the body. The workshop will begin with an active, or yang, portion where we'll warm the body and move the joints in a safe and mindful way. By moving the bones, fascia, and muscles through their active range-of-motion, the body will be properly warmed and prepared to move into the yin, or cooling section of the practice. We'll dive into a long, sweet, stretchy portion of the practice focus on creating release and opening in the hips, shoulders, and spine.

Join Abby for a night of deep relaxation to help unwind from the bustle and stress of the holiday season. The evening will begin with guided pranayama in a restorative yoga shape that's fully supported with props. Students will be guided to use the breath to connect to each chakra, and to release deep core tension from the physical and energy bodies. This special breath practice is intelligently designed to work on the level of the musculo-skeletal system, the nervous system, and the energy body through the chakras. Students will experience the sweetness of unraveling holding patterns in the body and how good it feels to down-regulate the Stress Response, or Sympathetic Nervous System.
After we've relaxed the chakras and softened the body, Abby will guide students through a frame drum sound healing, where students can trip out the meditative state where healing happens. You'll float away from this workshop feeling deeply relaxed and with new tools to bring that chill vibe with you into your life.

This special one-day workshop with Abby is an opportunity for yoga students, bodyworkers, and yoga teachers of all levels to spend a whole day diving deeply into a curated experience of subtle physical and energetic work. The day will begin with ceremony, where we'll invite in mother earth, and the ancestors and guides of our community circle to support and protect each of as we move through this healing work. The morning yoga practice will weave breath, movement, and guided focusing to increase our ability to feel, and bring heightened awareness of the habitual holding patterns in our bodies and energy fields.
The afternoon session will call on the connection that we've built through ceremony and our yoga practice, and will take that skillfulness into group and partner work. We'll move from gross to subtle, starting by working with the musculo-skeletal body through shiatsu and tui-na inspired touch with partners. Then, we'll dive into what's below the surface of the physical body by exploring how to feel breath and heartbeat, how to feel the rhythm and flow of the cerebrospinal fluid, and how to feel energy moving.
The work done in this Immersion (both individually and with others) is a mirror for how you show up for yourself, in relationships, in your work, and your yoga practice. You'll walk away from a day of being deeply dropped in and connected to community with tools that you can take into all parts of your life!

Join Abby for a weekend immersion where you'll learn functional anatomy, and use that information to go deeply into more advance postures. You'll learn how to frame your understanding of anatomy in a way that is individualized to your body, how the joints are meant to naturally move, and how to use your musculature to support deep strengthening and opening.
Part one of your weekend with Abby will focus on creating opening and intelligence in the shoulders. The practice will begin with a discussion of functional anatomy - how the shoulders are meant to move, and how we can support those actions with proper preparation in the yoga practice. Each student will be guided to gain a greater understanding of the habitual patterns show up their bodies, and how this impacts how they should work differently from other people. Following this discussion will be a vigorous and playful yoga practice, where students will get to dive deeply into opening and strengthening the shoulders in preparation for exploring advanced inversions, backbends, and binds. Expect to work into Handstand and Forearm Stand, Bridge and Wheel, and Bound Warrior variations. The sequence will be intelligently designed so that the body is safely prepared, and students have enough information to work mindfully and intelligently within their own body. Students will be given ample opportunity to choose their individual variation of each posture based upon a foundation of anatomy, feeling, and awareness.
Part two of your weekend with Abby will focus on creating opening and intelligence in the hips and hamstrings. The practice will begin with a discussion of functional anatomy - how the legs, hips, and hamstrings are meant to function, and how we can support those actions with proper preparation in the yoga practice. Each student will be guided to gain a greater understanding of the habitual patterns show up their bodies, and how this impacts how they should work differently from other people. Following this discussion will be a vigorous and playful yoga practice, where students will get to dive deeply into opening and strengthening the hips and legs in preparation for exploring advanced postures like Lotus, Splits, and Foot-Behind-the-Head. The sequence will be intelligently designed so that the body is safely prepared, and students have enough information to work mindfully and intelligently within their own body. Students will be given ample opportunity to choose their individual variation of each posture based upon a foundation of anatomy, feeling, and awareness.

Join Abby for this workshop centered around how to take your practice to the next level - through incorporating stronger and smoother transitions. You'll learn how to get lighter and quieter in your floats and jumps, how to smooth out the edges of your movements, and how to optimize your movements to eliminate unnecessary energy dumps. Expect to play with the floats into Chatturanga Dandasana and to the top of the yoga mat, the transitions from Chatturanga into Upward Facing Dog, Up Dog into Downward Facing Dog, the numerous ways that you can step through into standing postures, and some arm balance play!
In this workshop, you'll learn useful takeaways that you can do off your mat to increase the health and longevity of your wrist and shoulder joints, and new ways to play with your strength. You'll walk away feeling more powerful and confident in your Surya Namaskar (our beloved Sun Salutations), and with plenty of fun up-level options that you can add onto our beloved practice.
